Hypnotherapy Workshop Handbook [Digital Edition]
by Steve and Pauline Richards
Learn the basics of Self-Hypnosis

Self-Hypnosis is the most powerful tool in all of Depth Psychology and Psychotherapy for contacting the deep-structure psyche: quickly, and effectively.

There are many videos and guides online, purporting to show 'hypnosis' in action - these are almost invariably unsystematic, and 'authoritarian', where the person simply reads from a script, without any integrated understanding of the nature of the unconscious at all.

The foundation, is wrong - and the results, lacking.

It's no suprise that many today consider hypnosis to be something 'mystical', when in reality, its mechanism of action is simply a consciously engaged-with variant of something which is a normal part of everyday life.

Distilled from Steve and Pauline Richards' 44 years of front-line clinical experience, each, this groundbreaking professional handbook puts all of this right, and gives you the essential foundation and practical skillset for building rapport with your own psyche -

Exactly how, step-by-step, you can contact it via the natural means it would 'prefer'.

Hypnosis is the foundation of Depth Psychology

Hypnosis was once the essential psychological skill, practised by the great pioneers of Depth Psychology: Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud and Pierre Janet.

Jung's very first volume of Collected Works is based on hypnosis: he used it to uncover the mechanism behind so-called Occult Phenomena.

Freud and Breuer's famous Studies on Hysteria - the foundational text of psychotherapy - were conducted using hypnosis, and used as the foundation for Freud's creation of psychoanalysis within a decade later.

Pierre Janet's discovery of 'Subconcious Fixed Ideas' - the pre-cursor to Jung's model of Complexes - was only possible through hypnosis.

In short, there would have been no historical basis for psychoanalysis - no Freud, Jung or anything else pertaining to psychodynamics - without the discoveries made through hypnotic-induced dissociation of the psyche.

By their own admission, both Jung and Freud dropped hypnosis. Freud's reason (stated by himself in 1909) was purely because he wasn't proficient in it. Jung's reason, was a failure of his persona medici during a professional demonstration, whereby he failed to pull someone out of trance, in front of an audience of students. Janet, never published in English, and his historical significance has been sidelined as a result.

Ever since then, hypnosis has been essentially forgotton by wider psychodynamic practice.

Milton Erickson - the most famous and important hypnotherapist of the 20th Century - and his prestigious student, Prof. Ernest Rossi (also a Freudian Analyst, and Jungian Analyst), proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, that hypnosis is by far the most natural, and effective, means of bringing about healing change within the psyche.

As a development on from both, Steve and Pauline Richards have restored the proper use of hypnosis into Depth Psychodynamics: we now understand how it works, for working through complexes: carefully dissociating the ego, so that the deeper-structure psyche becomes accessible.

The historical divide between 'psychoanalysis' and hypnotherapy, has been repaired.

This manual will be of great value, if you...

  • Wish to communicate with your own psyche, for personal healing and homeostasis

  • Are on a personal development journey, and want to enter into the unconscious to see what it has to show you

  • Want to pursue a career in hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, or any similiar field

  • Want more energy? More restful sleep? More creative drive? You can enter into a dialectic with your unconscious on these, and many more, completely naturally

  • What can I do with the technique?

This exercises within this handbook are the foundation for all of Steve and Pauline Richards' hypnotherapy-based techniques (i.e. Neurohypnoanalysis) - they're evergreen, for all purposes.

They're so important, in fact, they're taught at the start of the Professional Training curriculum at IPSA, before other specialised methods are built on top.

Remembering that self-hypnosis, when approached in the right way, is a natural method of communication, its specific usage will be unique to each person who wishes to use it.

You might wish to ask for a healing dream, or, for feedback on dream interpretation, for example. Or, simply, for the psyche to restore homeostasis for you, on it's own time, without you needing to feel anything negative in the process at all.

The key with this, is rapport with the unconscious, and being respectful of the ongoing dialectic, as a representation of homeostasis, in 'real time'.

If you're ready to add the essential skill of all of Depth Psychology to your toolkit, and begin making contact with own unconscious, you are very welcome to pick up a copy of this manual below.

On a personal level, we sincerely wish you an exciting and happy road ahead - towards whatever future is calling for you.

All the very best, and with our respect,

Steve, Pauline and James (Jung To Live By Team)
